Eric B
whats the f3 point? since that is what determines how "low" a box will play. you can build 2 boxes both tuned to 30hz, 1 box has an f3 of 20hz another can have an f3 of 32hz for instance I am building a box right now. tuned to 44.5hz f3 of 34.6 built a box yesterday, tuned to 35hz with an f3 of 35hz There is alottttttttttttttttttttt more that goes into enclosure design than most of you realize. Getting all the way to post 16 in this thread with noone bringing it up proves my point. how do find "f3" point? 2007 Chevy HHR LT UNDER CONSTRUCTION 1st Place Loud N Low 2010 MWSPL Finals 3rd Place Xtreme 3 2010 MWSPL Finals

Noobtastic14
iirc its when the frequency response reaches -3db but ex you tune at 35 and by 32hz your at -3db freq response. By changing the box you can get say a 35hz tuning with a more flat response and say the point you reach -3db may be 28hz. what determines the response is all the variables including woofer, box, power, and loading environment -Drew I am a United States Military Arts and Crafts Professional. Usually in the manual or the site of the company would have them listed. i.e fas, vas, xmax all those othere wierd words with numbers next to them lol From my understanding that number comes from when it is in the recommended box. Wouldn't that change when you put it in a box where your tuning is 30 hz instead of the 37 or 40 they suggest? Anti Peel and Seal...lol You may be offended by the above. LoudBlazer
I honestly have no idea what those numbers mean lol. I just do my best to make it loud. Honestly I think tuning for most ppl is how they like their music. If you build a box at 28Hz and dont like it use the old box till you build another at a diffrent tune. I like that 30-32Hz. Always worked out perfect for me . 1997 2 Door Blazer Bagged & Body Dropped SBC/TH350
01xtreme
the -3db freq is just under 23Hz. I am not sure if that's what the F3 is though.
