Decaf
honestly... if its a ported enclosure... at the tune frequency the resistance comes closest to dcr (resitance measured on a multimeter)... which is when it would most likely go into protect or produce magic smoke... u could have quite a bit or impedance rise tho... so say ur box is tuned to 30hz... dont play below 40hz (just an example) and the resitance the amp sees while producing that note might be closer to 2ohms this it will be ok... but drop a note towards the tune frequency and POOF... fried amp and yes, it will get hott fast since its drawing more current at the lower resistance and unable to disipate it Edited May 12, 2009 by decafcappucino
Boon
1 of 2 things... Either it'll think it's a short and sit there in protect OR it'll blow the fck up the first time a good bass note hits. Kian
If you wanna run it at 1/2 ohm. make sure when you start it is a slow volume roll up. dont just play your system right off of the bat, it will just go into protect. I'm builng my burp box now for my 2 ohm stetsom to be ran at 1/2 ohm. You need alot of battery, and make sure your voltage does not make the amp go into protect, very very bad for the sub. oldschool
if you do it for burps only you should be ok but daily it would kill the amp just think of it like running a 300 shot of nitrous for a short burst it is ok but continuosly it would blow the motor. Pretty much. Just make sure you keep your electrical above 12.4 volts when doing so.
