so i want to run disk defragment to free up a bit of space and whatnot on my computer. however, each time i try to start it or even analyze it, it says "disk defragment couldn not start". any idea why?? and i've tried going through CMD and it does the same thing to me there. so is there a way i can fix this???

Defragmentation does not free space on your hard drive! It just speeds up your HDD by arranging it.

You can use O&O Defrag or Diskeeper.

Ok I had a little search and came across this >

"It happens if the DCOM Server Process Launcher service is not running or disabled.

Resolution:-

Start>Run>Services.msc>ok Scroll down to DCOM Server Process Launcher.Double click on it and set Startup type to Automatic.Restart your computer."

Let me know if it works
