It's alive....after being without a system for so long I finally have my beat up and running. I finished up with it at 3:30, just as the Super Bowl was getting ready to get going so obviously I didn't listen to it too much, just a song or two, and didn't tune it at all except to turn the sub level up.......sounds alright so far. Definitely got some tuning to do, guess what I'll be doing at Halftime? Don't worry about the wiring here, this is just temporary until I settle on an amp rack design Man, it's nice to have music again! Turned out to be an impedance issue due to wrong setting on my xover. I had it set to parallel (used when running off 2 channels) instead of bi-amp (used when running off 4 channels). But after figuring that out it was all good. Still not yet dialed in but it's sounding pretty good Not as loud as my 2 SA 12's but it does alright for a single 12 that's not broken in yet. SQMonte Posted February 9, 2011 Author Report Posted February 9, 2011 Well, after being able to listen to it for a couple days and with all the different types of music I listen to..........I'm very satisfied with the results of this build! This thing pounds nicely for a single 12, and hits hard and deep (no homo). That's the thing that's impressed me the most, how hard it bangs out the lows. I never enjoyed listening to Decaf music until this setup cause the lows just didn't have the impact this setup has. And speaking of Decaf, thanks for the help with my box man, i'm glad I listened to you cause i'm 100% happy with the results. In all fairness though, my Sundowns weren't in a custom made box tailored to them like this sub is so I can't make a fair comparison yet....but I remember how they sounded and this sub by itself may not be as loud overall, but it's the best sounding setup I've ever had. But to even the playing field, i'm gonna start on a dual 12 birch box for the Sundowns this week, 3 cubes tuned to 32Hz. They were in a 4 cube prefab, tuned to 30Hz last time, i'm expecting big things from them so stay tuned. Today at lunch I decided to see how low by setup goes....my box is tuned to 34Hz and it played well into the lower-mid 20's with emphasis! Can't wait till this thing breaks in so I can really see what it can do.
