Luda Posted June 17, 2009 Report Posted June 17, 2009 Looking for a new Amp for my Type R for the upcoming MECA competition. The sub is DVC wired to 2 ohms nominal, looking for 700-1000W. The sub is in my DD so i want a amp that can run for extended periods of time, and of course crank out solid numbers on the meter. Im currently running a Hifonics NX400 that i had laying around from an old install, its rated @ 320W @ 4ohms, and supposedly isnt 2 ohm stable, but i havent had an issue other then after about 15-20 minutes the amp is so hot you cant touch it. My two current choices are: Power Acoustik LFA2000D and the Hifonics BXI1208D, both of which are rated @ 900Wx1 @ 2ohms my price range is about 200$, so if you all have any other amps that fit the bill id love to hear about them. 2005 Grand PrixSource: StockFronts: Stock 6.5 ComponentsRears: Stock 6x9Subwoofer: FI BTL 12" Fully optionedSubwoofer amplifier: Kenwood KAC-7203 bridged @ 4ΩEnclosure: 3.41cuft tuned to 33hz

Rogers Posted June 19, 2009 Report Posted June 19, 2009 ive heard of them being pounded at 1100rms daily.... obviously not reccomended..... the type r is a beefy sub... i had one running on 600rms dialy and had no problems.... i think 700rms would be fine as long as the signal isnt clipped and your not playing frequencys below 30hz.... plus it never hurts to have some extra power on hand... http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/79921-rogers-700-dream-car-update-page-17-a-wall/?p=2335774 93 Saturn SC2My system4 SA-15's Walled 2 Cerwin-Vega S2000's 3 Kinetik Hc2000's Dual 200amp alts. you guys done with the peepee touching contest or do I need to end it?
AI James Posted June 19, 2009 Report Posted June 19, 2009 if you want proven power output stay away form hifonics. the diablo 1k at 2ohms would be great for that power, as well as many many other amps that are actually decent amps for the money
