What is up with everybodys fascination with fiberglassing a sub box? A well built box needs no fiberglass.

What is up with everybodys fascination with fiberglassing a sub box? A well built box needs no fiberglass.

Ive never done it and am no expert..But it seems ideal for strength with minimal displacement. Im def gonna fiberglass all the joints atleast of my next box since the subs will be 150+ lbs alone.

Pretty much everybody, including Steve puts fiberglass inside their/his boxes. Look at some of the member builds...

I didnt ask who did it I asked why. Like I said never had a problem with any of my boxs flexing or brreaking that had no fiberglass.

Yes I did only twice. The first one was crap and the 2nd was good but still never saw the real point in it. Made a box similar to the fiberglased box with same sub and it made no difference sound wise nor did the box with fuberglass flex more than the fiberglassed box.

1/4 of glass has about the same strength as 3/4 MDF

Try to read and understand what you say... You weren't asking why, you were making a statement.

I said other people do it also to backup my statement and used Steve as a reference because he's known to everyone of us as the man for this stuff.

Maybe you've never built a big box (8cuft+)?

I've glassed at least 5 boxes that I've built, glass helps in alot of ways, it's great for sealing and strengthening. Good woodworking + fiberglass = very strong enclosure.
