raytard Posted June 20, 2009 Report Posted June 20, 2009 you install it all yourself? only time i've ever seen something like what you're describing is when the surround was already messed up (like a screwdriver went through it, or it was cut in shipping) and when it was played hard it tore and went to hell a normal undamaged woofer wouldnt do that..... BITLD Posted June 20, 2009 Report Posted June 20, 2009 Pics. Straight out the box..never in the 8 yrs that I've sold a 'Scott' produced sub have I seen that. We've sold thousands and thousands of subs so don't believe it. We broke some surrounds buckling them in extreme car at like 170dB+ under severe air pressure. thehoe92 Posted June 20, 2009 Report Posted June 20, 2009 I will post some pics tomorrow....it is weird......my buddy was in the truck and I was back by the box and all of a sudden I saw foam ....so I had my buddy turn it down and sure enough foam was coming off the surround in the 12 and 6 position http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/public/style_emoticons/default/01nocomment8so.gif I'm always scared I'm going to puncture the surround when I screw my sub in. its a possibility though... Wouldnt be thehoe92 without teh purple
cnate777 Posted June 22, 2009 Author Report Posted June 22, 2009 Hate to say it but this really happened....it isnt a figure of anyones imaginationand it happened while demoing the truck......my entire build is here on the SMD forum....check it out it is under 2008 Trailblazer SS........the tears are on the very top of the surround and they spliting down towards the cone and the basket (in both directions) You can feel the divit where the foam is tearing itself.......I cant seem to get a hold of Scott does anyone know a better way of contacting him.....I need to get this figured out......
