srry, i forgot to tell you about my board.

bottom line. GET IT. It has been nothing but awesome so far. i have my i7 920 overclocked to 4.0 Ghz on air and its stable as a rock. my ram is running at 1604 and the whole setup is blazing fast. the only downside to the board is it doesnt supporst sli. which is why i bought a 4870x2.

ill take it into consideration, i do like the evga though incase i ever decide to go SLI, and that board supports tri-sli :)

and i thought the only diff was warranty, i just didnt know for sure.

Can't go wrong with any of those boards. Foxconn is evga's connect. Personally I would just go with evga, they have really good tech support. Plus the warranty and programs they have are great.

Also I am sure you'll never need tri-sli, unless you just want to show off crysis at the highest resolution. A simple SLI or CF setup is plenty imo...

There are some reviews out there, that you only see the benefit of tri-sli @ a higher resolution of 2560 x 1600..

758 will do Tri-Sli but thats it , dont expect to have any slots left for anything afterwards like a sound card. This is figuring the GPU's you use would be double slot GTX 200 series . If you want more slots for the future .. get the Classified instead. It has 4 PCI-E slots and other PCI slots and you can mount the cards in different arrangements. This is not a con as most dont run 3 GPU's but something to be aware of if your planning to run alot of stuff.

With all them HDD's .. I would get a board that has 6 Dimms . The 758 from Jacob @ EVGA says it should support 24GB of Ram but just has not been advertised too.

2000 Trans Am ws6 - 6spd / M9 / cam / full bolt-ons / semi full suspension / tune

1998 Integra - daily beater, [2] AB XFL-1244's / 4ft³@35Hz, 61in² / Saz-3500dv1 @.85Ω

  • 2 weeks later...

Had to wait til I got a little extra play money, I'm getting ready to order the evga e758, i7 920, and 6gb of corsair ddr3 1600 dominator series. I thought about the xms3 for a little less money (same ram I believe, but different heat sinks) and I think ill just spend the extra and go with the dominator, becuase I wanna mess around with OC'ing and that ram has awesome reviews as far as OC'ing goes and staying cool at the same time.

So total once I order those 3 parts ill be at 1781 shipped. That's the mobo, cpu, ram, 6tb of hdd, 1kw psu, and the case.

nice

have a few questions about RAM

as far as timing goes, is lower the number better?

for example 7-7-7-20 vs 8-8-8-24?

these are the ones im comparing and i cant understand why the one with the lower timing is cheaper?

this is the set i was going to order:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820145224

and then i came across this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820145253

then there is this, with 9-9-9-24, but its more becuase 1866mhz vs the above 2 which are 1600mhz
