pimpedout97x
I'm selling the pc I built in Jan 2008 and my 20" iMac that I bought about 5 months ago (can't believe I bought that...) and I want to build one badass pc. I don't play any games although I may get into a few one day, but mainly I'm into music and movies so I just want a crazy fast pc, tons of storage, etc. I want a nice video card but nothing crazy is needed, just something with hdmi that has a nice output on my tv. I currently have an nvidia 8800gt and it does what I need it to do, I may part out my old pc and keep that. Who knows. What I do know is I'm going to run the Antec Twelve Hundred full tower case, I love that case so I'm buying that one. I'm gonna run the western digital 1TB WB1001FALS hard drives. 99 shipped each on newegg, I'm gonna order either 4 or 6. No I don't have that much data yet, but I'm gonna set it up raid (not sure which configuration yet) so if I get 6tb and its all mirrored ill only really have 3tb of storage of music and movies. Power supply is next- any suggestions? I currently run a rosewill 500w in my pc and haven't had one problem with it, but I've been reading reviews on the 850-1000w ones and corsair seems to take the cake. I'm looking at either the 850w corsair (CMPSU-850TX) which is 109 shipped after rebate, or the 1000w corsair (CMPSU-1000HX) for 209 shipped aftr rebate, although this one is modular as well which will be cool. I think I may run the 1000w one, even though the 850 will probably do fine. Input here will be appreciated as well. Still looking for the board I want to run, and CPU. I run amd now and intel in the mac and my laptop, and to be honest I like the amd best. So I'm thinking about the Phenom agena 2.3ghz quad core cpu.. 90 bux shipped on that. BulletInjection
Well if you are super serious about this you gotta go with the classified mobo or the new one that just came out with the 7 x16 2.0 slots. 12GB tripple channel, evga gtx285, 965 [email protected] or higher and of course 1/2(ID) liquid cooling, maybe even an expressar!!! haha My build: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ind...8920&st=100 http://www.youtube.com/Bulletinjection
pimpedout97x
I was just looking at the evga gtx, I think it was the 285.. Like 129 bux I think it was? That's not too bad IMO. Ill get that. Link me to the boards your talking about. And what cpu is that? Link please. Water cooling would be cool but I honestly don't want to do that, I'm just that type of person that doesn't agree with water being inside a pc...I know it works great I just don't like it. Plus that case should have good cooling with all the fans

newls1
There are many options to choose here. "Bulletinjectin" mentioned a GREAT OCing board, no doubt, but yes it is very expensive. He lives in the North ATL area, so since he's wealthy he might not have realized it (Damn kennasawians..J/K bullet) 1. ATi ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814150359 ) I love Nvidia, and ATi, I only chose this card as it is really the TOP performer for movies, BLU-RAY, etc.... 2. Asus Mobo ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813131386 ) 3. Core i7 ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16819115202 ) 4. Ram ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820145250 ) Doesnt get any better then this for the price. You could always go cheaper on the GPU (Like a GTX260 c192, which is like a 150, but not as fast for games) If your not going to play many games that are graphics hungry, you can get a ATi 4670 that has an HDMI out right on the card, and much much much cheaper ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814102818 ) I love my staffie So anti FACEBOOK it isn't even funny
pimpedout97x
You think I should run the amd phenom II 3.0ghz or the intel i7 2.66ghz (both quad core) the amd is 189 and the intel is 279...

sayhuh?
The Core i7 will kill the sh!t out of the Phenom, tbh. I agree, but if price is an issue, then don't go with it. The i7 kills just about anything out there. Although Quad core isn't utilized just yet, I love it and since you said you dont game it won't matter much for you won't see any gains running quad on games. I like quad for everything else though. The enD
whats the difference in the memory timing, for example- 9-9-9-24 or 8-8-8-24 and the voltage 1.65v vs. 1.5v? I think the lower it goes the faster it gets. And with more voltage, more clock, but more heat too. So get a nice cooling for all you things. And get some big ass monitor man. Two 24" Wide. You will be happy as pig in dirt.
