Explosivesound Posted June 30, 2009 Report Posted June 30, 2009 From another post Ive decided to run 2 sets of the XXX 6.5c sets. They are 150rms each. I was thinking of the US Amps Merlin MD-42 which is 125 rms x4, but supposedly is underrated. My question is (Ive never used component sets, just upgraded door speakers and threw all my money in the sub) Does power go from the amp to the crossovers and it sends power to both the woofer and the tweets or do I seperately have to power those, because I see no power rating on the tweets. And since the woofers are 150rms do I need to add in the tweeters power so Im say sending 250 watts x4 instead of the 150 the woofers are rated at? Thanks for the help. Ive always been a bass head, now I want to hear some words!!!
davewms9605 Posted June 30, 2009 Report Posted June 30, 2009 No sir, comps are rated at the stated rms together, (mids and tweets) so if its 150rms for the set then thats what it is. They are not rated seperate. US amps is great and you can also look into the Sundown SAX-100.4 which is what i got and from what people say on this site is a great 4-ch amp!!!! Those Comps would sound wonderful!!!
