Ignantfi3d Posted June 30, 2009 Report Posted June 30, 2009 So, driving around bumpin the sounds, I noticed a flapping sound. Passed it off as my hatch rattling. About 20 minutes later, I notice my bass drop off a bit, so I turned it down, pulled over to have a look back there and this is what I found: Is this fixable? I see no tearing of the rubber anywhere nor any holes. It looks as if it just attaches under the black surround piece. Can I fix this myself? If I can, can anyone tell me some info on how to do it, or point me in the right direction? And yes, I know the box is an ultra-mega fail, but, I am having a 4cu ft. ported enclosure made in a few weeks. 1996 Vw Jetta Crunch 1500watt 1- Kicker 15" L7 @ 1ohm in a 4cu. ft. What should I use to glue/adhere it back down without deteriorating the rubber? Would urethane be ok? cc_audio Posted July 1, 2009 Report Posted July 1, 2009 Get CA glue. Just google it and then go to shopping section. Its all the same and cheap or go to your local hobbie store if you have one. They'll know what your talking about. Carefully remove the trim ring on your sub. They crack easily so pay attention. Scrape or peel the old glue off and hit some sand paper on the basket where the surround glues to. Then clean the surround and basket with rubbing alchohol at the place of contact. Let it dry (it dries quickly). Apply a thin layer of glue with a small brush evenly on the surround backside and on basket. Grab as many clothes pins as you can find or buy some and use them to clamp the surround. I let mine sit for two days in the warmest part of my house. Just a precaution. Then reglue your trim ring on using the same glue and clothes pins. Wait another day and you'll have a brand new subwoofer. It's all gone!
