Alright, I have been browsing the internet and found this, http://soundstormlab.com/main/465 for $189 at sonic. That appeals to me because I was thinking about eventually getting two BTL's. Would it be a bad idea to try and use that amp with one BTL if I decided not to get a second one, or until I did anyway?

In other words, would it be bad to run a BTL off an amp that has a higher RMS than the subs RMS?

that amp wouldnt come close to those power ratings, and wouldnt do justice to a btl.

why btl? i think you need to start off with something more entry level instead of jumping straight into the lions den.

if you want [1] sub to wire to 1ohm get a d2 sub. if you want [2] subs to wire to 1ohm get d1 subs.

people need to NOT worry about the DCR of the coils, as that will confuse most. stick to nominal impedance loads please

yeah earthman is right, stay away from that amp, 189 dollars wont ever get you 4kw of quality

That amp wouldn't power 1 let alone 2 BTL's. My vote would be a Diablo Audio Technologies HELLFIRE 2500.1...but you'll need to beef up your electrical for it such as a high output alternator, and a second battery.

In simple terms if you don't plan on spending $2000 (very rough estimate and likely to rise) to set up yourself with a BTL then start smaller.
