Had my excessive amperage alternator tested.

Recommended Posts

Bought a "200" amp alternator for my cavalier that claimed 110 at idle and 200 at 2k rpm.

got the test results back today and, it was horrible.

ran 158 COLD at 2500rpm probably 130 hot at 2k rpm

and a shitty 65 amps at idle COLD. maybe 40 amps hot.

no wonder it killed its self with no system in the car. not even enough power to keep the voltage up with only the car running no accessories.

Thats $300 wasted

EA the Pyle of alternators

you can cook bacon shirtless if you're not a pussy...lol

not hatin, but am i wrong here it looks as if the amp is not grounded its hooked directly to the battery. it that the way it should be.

not to second guess you but is that alternator rpm or engine rpm?

And i already have a 290 amp DC, does 165 at IDLE and 308 at ~2k engine Rpm

DC FTW

At least you didnt spend over $500 for a stock largecase gm alternator with only a upgraded stator...

So since it was tested why dont you post up the print out of what it really did? Maybe even a pic of said alt too?
