Box for Rowshard---Added test results and video.

Recommended Posts

A friend of mine asked me to build him a box for his 15 inch BTL. This is going in a Nissan Sentra... woot woot a trunk car something I happen to know a little about.

Equipment:

Car: Nissan Sentra (don't know what year)

Radio: JVC

Amp: One Sundown Saz-1500

Sub: One Fi BTL 15 inch

Port: One Precision Sound Products 6 inch port

Wood: MDF

Box size is 3 cubes tuned to 35Hz.

At all starts with a pile of wood. I spared you guys the cutting...

Glued, screwed and clamped the side and back together. I let each joint sit over night. I also put a piece of corner molding in the corners of the box. I am not expecting any SPL gains, just like to build a strong box.

Another shot...

Day 3

The next day I added the other side to it. Also stuck another corner piece in.

I let that sit another night.

Day 4

Put the inside baffle in.

Posted Image

Its starting to look like a box.... kinda

Posted Image

I see a lot of people when making a double baffle box make it like this....

Posted Image

... which I guess there is nothing wrong with that. But if you would put the inside baffle inside the box like this...

Posted Image

That makes for a way stronger baffle.

looks good. he may want to add a second 1500d though

i was thinking leave the 12 sitting in the box in the hole and duck tape from the bottom of the sub to the bottom of the baffle so the sub doesnt free air. would that work?

Added the top to the box along with my little corner pieces.

Everything dried and ready for the bottom but I seem to have forgotten to take that picture so moving right along to getting the box cleaned up.

I cut my pieces a hair bigger then needed so they end up looking like this....

You can see in these two pictures the corner that was cleaned up and the corner that wasn't.

The flushing bit makes quick work of it. Every comes out nice and clean.

A little sanding time.

Do it like this and your joints will always come out perfect.
