As for me I don't believe any numbers that are gotten by any other methods. I think the mic goes 13 inches from the passenger door and 5 or 6 inches up from the dash with the vehicle all sealed up. HHR Ed Posted July 9, 2009 Report Posted July 9, 2009 (edited) db Drag defined the legal way of measuring. sensor on windshield, 12" over from passenger side A pillar and 6" up from dash. Outlaw was defined from USACI rules where the sensor is placed in the passenger side footwell near the kick panel. The vehicle can be closed or opened. these scores can be 6db + higher than legal scores. The sensor actually sits in a globe that is 6 or 8" in diameter so that the sensor is a few inches from any surface.
