Is it portable? Negative

Recommended Posts

So I keep trying to see if this box is port-able, and everytime I do it it doesnt come out right. So maybe I'm doin it wrong or maybe it just ain't ment to be ported. Let me know what y'all think.

i would either port it along the bottom. going maybe the full width of the box or even the top facing forward. pot with the port right againest the back of the seat, might not realy be the best

but as for useing that box and not building a new one, IMO will probably not work

Is 2.625 cu ft your internal volume? If so then that box isn't big enough to go ported. Minimum recommended ported enclosure is 1.75 cubes per sub.

System tear out has begun...Out with the old

yea either leave it sealed or build a new box, that one is too small to be ported

i was thinking leave the 12 sitting in the box in the hole and duck tape from the bottom of the sub to the bottom of the baffle so the sub doesnt free air. would that work?

Yep, plan is to build a new one, save this one incase the next one comes out crappy (which it probably will, cause I've never built a ported box and still don't fully understand how to make the ports)

Kicker says each sub needs 1.75ft3 (that accounts for sub displacement aswell), so 3.5ft3 for both. This box is already 2.678, and I'm sure I can squeeze .822 somewhere, but the port displacement is gonna make it feat to leave me with some leg room....

I'll start on a new box design tomorrow, and see if it will work, if it looks like it's plausible (Thank you Myth Busters) then I'll take lots o' pics and start a new topic in the builds section. Those with reg cab trucks check back soon!

Well really, everyone check back so y'all can give me some tips and tricks as I work my way through it!!!
