doug118
I really want to run a double din but I'm in the same situation as steve was. just wondering if anyone wanted to tackle this project? just PM me if you are interested in doing it here are some pics for reference Ok, here is the double din Alpine goin' into the dash....not done yet, i got tired and i gotta go to work in the morning...i shouldnt even be posting pics, but these ones are sorta worth posting. Here is what i started with...already moved the HVAC controls hmmmm how am i gonna pull this one off... gotta take a looksy at it and see where i want it. right here is good Ok back to what i was working on.....time to make the wood frame fit in the plastic dash piece (which by the way it was fun to butcher a brand new $120 piece of plastic) After making a few marks, time to cut the plastic to fit. Oh ya, i filled the gaps with a cardboard backing so the Urethane would have something to sit in Mixin up the last of my Urethane supply....gotta order up tomorrow! AFter lots of sanding (and more to do) here is what it looks like You get the idea...im tired, dirty, smelly and 2 hours past my bedtime.....nite-nite all Edited August 18, 2009 by doug118 2001 Tahoe. CLNFREAK
there are a few ways to do this, you can use the wood like shown or use the radio trim. then you can use a two part epoxy or make a abs sludge (abs plastic shavings and acotone) then fill the gaps in around the trim and sand, if you fiberglass it you have to drill holes so the resin has some thing to grab on to, resin dose not stick to abs
