David Posted August 31, 2009 Report Share Posted August 31, 2009 Sigs are out of control, and where gonna make a change to the sig rule very soon. I love capalass23's sig but its waaaayyy to big. But if the image isn't hosted on our server it doesn't affect our bandwidth. we have run out of bandwidth twice this month, before that its been a long time since we have, so whoever said every couple weeks has no idea what there talking about. we do have alot of traffic, millions and millions of hits a week, and were growing at an alarming Rate. If the banner links to photobucket the only bandwidth being consumed is the <img src=""> link in the backend html page. Avatars on the other hand if uploaded to SMD will take a shit load of bandwidth... GIFs especially weighing in at sometimes 3-4 megs... meades avatar is a huge file for example. so offsite sigs are fine, it's the onsite avatars that really dominate the BW. David, I'll be one MSN if you want me to help explain. Another option is get rid of the mpg/mov files on SMDmedia.net and make it link off of youtube.
