I think its a local thing. Probably would be best to check with your local dmv or inspection station. -
The difference in price isnt that much IIRC. I would go with the 3/4 .

Three fans sittin together is pulling air from essentially the same spot. Now unless I only thought I saw a amp sitting right in front of the intake fans, that means he is pulling slightly heated air from over the top of a amp and into the amp rack. Now spread those fans apart equally for the intake and your pulling air from three different spots. Now do I think they would move more air apart? No. Move cooler air more efficiently? Yes. Now as for you smart asses regarding the smoke test. Doing that will show where your air flow is going. I thought the point of adding the fans was to help Steve's heart from failing?

Damn Son be careful and not get a hernia...JP will kick your ass .

At full tilt whats the operating temp of those amps? Im just curious if the fans will be moving the air fast enough to stop heat pockets from heating the cooler air coming in. Have you thought about doing a flow test will colored smoke? I trust your judgment. Personally I would have kept the fans spaced apart throughout the rack. The three together makes me nervous since they are side by side. Lookin good justa couple more steps and the ipod beat will be replaced ,

This guy I know had a neighbor that had a older model vette. Real nice car bad ass wheels and one of the neighberhood dogs would piss on his tires. He got fed up and hooked a electric fence charger to the chasis of the car. The next morning he was out in the back yard heard a yelp and laughed. Went inside the house and was getting ready for work when somebody was beating down his door. He went to see who it was. The goddamn fire department was there extinguishing his bad ass vette. Apparently the when the dog pissed on the tires and wheels it shorted out the charger that ended up catching the tires on fire that created a chain reaction. The FD arrived just in time to keep the flames from hitting the gas tank. Also back in the early 90's a friend at school had a car alarm that would shock you after touching the car for 25 seconds. And not just a slight tingle shock it was link a old bell crank jolt. He got in so much trouble with that freaking thing. a -
About 10 years ago I had a HUGE linear for a cb system I had in a old delta 88. It was mounted to the rear deck. Was a old tube style box from a local am radio station. A friend modified the freq to work in the cb band. In the huge ass trunk of the boat it would still get super hot when I was stompin people being douchebags. One of the guys I talked with on the cb told me to run 2inch bathroom fart fan vent tube from my ac tot he back of the car. I wish I had pictures of it.Looked funny as hell. But when I was droppin the hammer on some fools the ac was blowing cold and I never had a problem with the linear gettin hot again. I have been waitin on somebody to use the vent from the rear air in a HOE to help cool the amps.

Missouri requires them. But if you are driving a 3/4 ton and larger truck and register it as a heavy duty class you only have to have it on the front of the vehicle.
