anyway as you can see im bored and i always just wonder about these things:

if its annoying or something to post like this lol sorry , but i got some questions

anyway for instace that boss woofer... specs are monster for that price but i found my fubars for 50 each and had to get em but ive wondered about those.

and with infinity: ive always heard that they are solid and im just wondering wtf is the price hike about for ??? 100W RMS? like i dont get it.

and if your wondering about my fixation on sens aka SPL : to my understanding SPL is a measure of well SPL 1 meter away on 1w of power. this is to say that:

woofer A rated at 300W RMS SPL of 92 and woofer B 600W RMS SPL of 86

if each woofer were tested under the exact same conditions woofer A is theorhectically 6db louder than woofer B up to around 300W RMS... where woofer B would start to gain and eventually become louder above 300W due to a higher power handling ability.

Is this right?

and if so then the cheaper infinty should be a much better woofer for a performance for the $ comparison...

or is it about SQL that drives the $$$ $100 up?

as for the last two woofers well they are stereotypical walmart stuff and they seem pretty comparable to the rest of the bunch.. ive heard some walmart beat thats pretty solid

I guess im trying to better my woofer selection skills if you will idk just random ?'s and stuff

lol again im bored and reading this forum is like crack sometimes its like opening up flood gates, and im just itching to figure out/learn/ rebuild and stuff lol

4 obvi quality is not of abundence here, my questions were more about the principles / or if $50- $65 were the budget for a woofer... im assuming its better to have some bump then none so would you just not buy anything... WHAT IF YOU HAD TO?

LOL at the bad monkey though haha, the average person working mcdonalds or something wantin to do something cheap so obvi your options are limited... or just not buy anything in fear of being a "bad monkey"?

let me settle that by saying right now i have a the worst pioneer sub ever in my car and a 10 year old audiobhan 2 chan just to get me till the new truck so I understand the budget thing if you are looking to buy on a budget the best subs on the market are the kicker comps and kicker cvrs not the cheapest thing on the market for subs but they are reliable easily found and can handle decent power and sound good thats my 2 cents and BTW I dont like kicker im an mtx man myself but you gotta love the entry level stuff from those guys

had some boss speakers. sounded good, but didnt last but a month

those kenwoods are good, i put some in a buddies car, ported with 600 watts, did a 140.somethin on the tl

sonys are alright budget ones too, that was my second sub ever after a blew my pyle. It got pretty loud, but..ive moved on to better things.

I wouldnt go with mtx like the other guys said, maybe its just the ones i heard, but it was like a stock radio almost.

for a good budget stuff id go with. the walmart pioneers, sonys, kickers, not necessarily in that order, but i wouldnt put any of them in my car anymore.

you could look in the forsale stuff on here to get way better subs, just a little used

for 60 bucks you wont be dissapointed. Or look for some alpine type r's on craigslist. you can usually find them super cheap. same with cvr's

if you are looking for cheap subs like all of those,

RMS wattage an db sensitivity dont mean anything.

Look at coil size and build quality.

Infinity has a good build quality where as the Sony has a bad build quality.

I ran 6 and 8 infinity reference 12" subs in various installs since 2005 when I used them at db Drag finals.

They are still working great to this day, they are my work horse subs. I have even put over 1000w to each for a short time.

And I was just doing 144 dbs on 6 of them with only a 400w amp, thats less than 70w per woofer.

and you can see all 8 of them on a crunch gp3000 in this video, it was almost 148 db

bet you haven't even heard a set.. and if you have what kind of power did the kid have to them?

i had w3011's and they took 1000wrms all day long. They didnt get very low because i had them tuned incredibly high (43.5hz) it was a box built for 10's that i fit 12's into.

Amazingly they sounded really good for a $44 speaker

Compared to my LVL4 they actually had better SQ in the 60hz range, but below 45hz was lacking

lol no im not at all looking to buy woofers at this point, i had some budget 12's then moved to fubars and ill be with those for quite awhile the next set of woofer for me will be something sweet like DD's or something.

anyway i was just wondering for the sake of wondering because you always see posts on here like oh i got 3 grand what should buy and its always DC, Fi and stuff which is sweet but i got bored and was wanting to see about the other side of the spectrum.

i saw someone had a link on here for two 12" *** subs off a sundown 125.2 or something that did 400w rms and the price was like 500 bux

i just thought surely something better could be done with $500..

anyways i was just being bored thanks for the replies lol but i have a bit more sense than to be buying boss and stuff lmao

ALTHOUGH there are some pyle subs on the for $9!!!! you could buy a couple of those throw em in a 1/4'' box and sell em to some kid off the street for 50 bux, make a lil $ hahahahaha.

i think that will about cover my interest in a budget SBM (system builder marathon) type topic for car audio:p
