marquettefan247
Yes I know that bypassing the parking brake is dangerous and I should not have DVDs going when I am driving, but I want to do it because I am taking a 6 hour trip soon and I will have passengers along for the ride. The HU I just bought was a pioneer AVH P6500 DVD I bought it off cnate777. It is not here yet, but I want to be ready when it is. What do I have to do to get this to work? Is there any way to do it without a switch? If not how do I wire it? I have a pioneer 6600 flip out, find the wire that suppose to go to the e-brake, then hook that to the black ground wire you ground the deck with, NO SWITCH needed. Only cheap ones i think use switches lol then it should come on mine does, hope this helps.

HaMSaMMiCH
some decks require you set/unset the parking brake to get the video on. those are the ones that need a switch. a few pioneers i have seen the pb wire needs to be grounded when the unit is hooked up to power. just ground the light green wire and if it doesn't work, unhook the wire turn the radio on then ground it. also, i didn't tell you that. baggedon4s
most pioneers you wire up a relay to double throw the ground. Connect wires as follows on relay: Pin #86 - Amp remote from your radio (blue wire) Pin #30 and #85 - to a chassis ground (metal dash bracket) Pin #87 - to Parking brake input wire on your radio (light green) Pin # 87a - IGNORE. It isn't used in this case. throw it in the dash, no switch or nothing Edited September 7, 2009 by baggedon4s Quote 99 suburban, ranger rover headlights, SS front bumper, roll pan with frenched tag, 2nd row delete, glassed dash..audio to come whenever I figure out what I want. SmokeyDog
my pioneer hu i just took the green wire for the parking brake and gronded it with a switch inbetween. used a lamp switch rotor style under the dash cant see it. spin it two times and its on got a message gotta press on ok. did not work by just grounding out. TechSys
From the looks of it the light green wire on your unit needs to go to ground. I don't have that headunit, but to bypass the parking brake on mine (jvc kd-avx1), I wrapped the wire around the antenna plug then put some tape on it to hold it in place. Works great.
