Kian
I believe the larger the dust cap you go, you start to loose cone area. I don't know that for a fact but i think i heard it from ed Lester. --------------------------------------------------------------- Club 150 (15x.x) Youtube Future Build: 1x 15" T3 TSNS 2x Sundown Audio SAZ3000d Parellel strapped
doug118
I'm not saying what you said isn't true but if it were a fact then wouldn't people all run the absolute smallest dustcap possible? 2001 Tahoe. audiofanaticz
The cone area is there no matter what. The size of a dust cap wont really effect anything except make your cone tougher or more rigid and not fold under lots of back pressure or power. If this was the case, every speaker manufacture would use a solid 1 piece cone/dustcap design like the alpines, or eclipse subs or the old flat piston PPI subs. The cone and dustcap move together, so how there would be less cone area is beyond me. Some speaker manufactures say things that are not true to simply make you buy their product over other said product. Theres also alot of shady audio shops that do the same, or say something along the lines of "if they dont sell it, its junk". These are 18inch carbonfiber caps on 18inch subs
