HAHAHHAHA. I'm building a rattle free trunk silly!

The inner box (with the 3 holes cut for the subs is the airspace they will play in like a normal box.

The outer enclosure is to trap all the bass and keep it from pressurizing the trunk and rattling it to hell.

Think "bandpass box without the ports" (hopefully a similar effect of the air/sound waves getting channelled around the outside of the inner enclosure.

After I chop the vertical walls and bring the top down a bit, the "channels" or air passgae around the outside of the inner box will be around 15" high and 2" wide.

That's 30in^2 of "port area" on each side plus the TOP channel which will be around 36" wide and an inch or 2 high (at least another 36in^2 of "port area"

Thus, if any of the same rules applyconsidering port area/airspace ratio in terms of ported boxes,I should be sittin pretty with at least 96"^2 of "port area to channel air into the vehicle-PLUS, it will have a vertical "chimney" opened up to relieve pressure through the rear deck, directly above the top of the outer enclosure too.

Mind you-these are NOT ports. Just open area for air to move into the cabin and it will all exit the back/open side of the outer enclosure and the rear deck "mouth".

Hopefully=loud in car and ZERO RATTLES.

If you look at the pic that shows the rear seat side of the box^^^, it's OPEN.

Thus, all the sound the subs are making will be funneled into the cabin of the car and you will have little or no trunk rattle.

It's a box inside a box with the "mouth" (kinda like a reverse horn but hopefulyy not THAT effect) and all the bass will be IN CAR rather than in the trunk.

That's what I'm doin.

Correct...Kinda.

The Idea here is to KEEP the subs from loading off the inside walls of the trunk.

Instead, the whole front of the box thats facing the back wall of the trunk (rear end really) will be SEALED OFF via another piece of mdf that spans the length of the box and has a large oval plexi viewing window in the center so you can watch the subs moving thru the glass.

The INNER enclosure will of course get white vinyled and then lights inside the outer enclosure will light it up and be wired to the trunk light.

THIS WILL BE VERY MUCH LIKE A BANDPASS-but no "ports" just those air channels around and over the top ove the inner box.

I know it looks like I been sleepin on this one but I've just been havin some PC issues and couldn't get the pix up for ya so here's the latest updates.

I measured/chopped down the sides of the outer enclosure so it'll fit in the trunk height-wise.

Top sits a lil lower now.

So after the outer shell was all put together..the only way to get it into the trunk was to divide into 2 pieces so I had to slaice it down the middle and figure out a new "sealing" method"

The sides ended up catching on the lift arms for the trunk lid so I had to re-work the edges a bit too.

So after the box stuff was pretty much figured out I got busy on the rear deck cut through.

There's actually a nice lil (10"x6") opening in the rear deck so I just copied it and cut through the soft parts. Hooray for no sheet metal there.

DUCT TAPE= "The Poor man's angle clamps". Held it fine while I threw screws in it.

The opening here WILL get prettied up-and look pretty close to factory If i can swing it.

Bck to the outer enclosure-

That lil chimney needs to "seal" and attach to the top of the outer enclosure and breath through so here's the openings I made.

Now-here's some lil 1.5" spacers I made up real quick. They are temporary-I will make a beveled set to let the top sit correctly later. They are to hold the top piece of the outer shell UP level so it doesn't sag once it gets cut in half-just like the bottom board. In the end the outer shell is 2 side pieces (via the slice down the middle) and the front face attaches to seal the trunk off.

And as I said-Not sitting level until I bevel those spacers.

Front baffle-this piece is the SEALER for the outer enclosure and will go on last. It's gonna have a nice big OVAL cut in it and plexi to fill that oval. The interior gets white vinyled and blue neon.

Here I finally cut some lil notches for the hood arms/lifts but I dunno if it will look like that I'm playing with some other ideas.
