zaxfire69
Hello. My father has a Gmc Jimmy with the bose audio system and he is wanting to upgrade his stock radio to an aftermarket unit. How would he go about doing it and can he do it..He wants one like a Sony or a Pioneer Cd Deck that plays Wmp, Mp3 discs...Tell us what all we would have to purchase to do this...?? Thanks in advance..

Eddy722
Buy the harness for that car. Please don't cut the factory harness. Crutchfield should have everything you need. Just put in the vehicle model and year.

SPLGEO
WRONG sorry waite... bose systems are amped systems, more then likey there is an amp on each speaker that you must bypass the amp, or else you'll run into BIG problems.... just run new wire to each speaker from the radio Quote 1995 Geo Prism . AlpineGuy87
really... you mean you cant even use the amps... like can you just use the speaker wires that the old unit used.. i figured you just be able to take old connections and put them into the new head unit.. so like.. you cant use the amps on the bose speakers? or .. idk maybe im confused.. lol Quote 06 SCION tC
mojoman
with the bose system, you can run the standard 1858 wire harness. if you keep factory wiring, you will need to power up the pink wire in the 9 pin flat connector behind radio with 12volts accessory. this will power up the bose amps. if you have on-star then you would need a 72-006 harness. (metra harness numbers) there is no need to run wires to each speaker. i am assuming your jimmy is 2001 or earlier though, if it is newer it might be different. SPLGEO
yaa... turn but wouldn't it be easyer to run new speaker wires, instead of pulling out 100 for the harness o and yes if your jimmy is 1990+ you'll need that nice harness, so that your trans won't burn up, and your air bags will go off Edited April 18, 2007 by SPLGEO Quote 1995 Geo Prism .
