And I have some mixed feelings.

I'll start with the good stuff. This thing is SOOOO freaking fast, and SOOO glitch free, it's just freaking beautiful. I think I can > open Photoshop 7.0, open a large photo file, do a funtion on it, save it, and close Photoshop < all in like less than..... errr... well I wasn't sure.... so I just actually tried it :) I think "I" had a couple of glitches..... but my PC was like, "Hurry up you dum-bass" :) Anyway, I did what I just said in 24 seconds ! I swear my old PC took more than 24 seconds to open the damn photo program !

As far as Windows Vista being a memory hog..... Well, maybe so. But after it hogs all it want's to, I'm left with about 20 X's as much memory as I had before, with my old PC. I like the look and feel of Vista too. Got my Windows all customized with the semi transparent borders, and custom colors, and I think it looks freaking bad ass :)

Oh, and my new 23" HD Samsung monitor looks sick too...... > when I "fill" it with picture...... But I quickly realized that if you stretch a web page to fill it all the way across, you have all kinds of empty space in between, and your sitting there scrolling your head WAY back and forth. So that doesn't work. Now I'm trying to get used to having the page "normal width" in the middle of my screen, with the desktop showing on both sides.

Now here's one thing that FREAKING KILLING ME ! My text sizes are all effed' up ! Yes, I know about the "page" and "tool" settings at the top of the page. Problem is, say I'm on Yahoo.com, Some of the text is already large enough to read okay. Some is so freaking tiny, it's a good thing I have great eyesight ! So, I go up to the text size thing, and enlarge it from medium, to large.... then Xlarge. Now the text that was already big enough to see easily, is freaking STUPID big, and the tiny stuff looks barely, if at all bigger ? WTF ??? ......then, even if it looked freaking perfect, as soon as I leave Yahoo.com, and come back, my text is right back to the tiny ass default again :(

In fact, my text right here is freaking micro-small :( Sure, I could use the font sized thing at the top of this window to increase it..... but while making it look okay for me, might it look STUPID huge to you ?

Then, in my Photoshop program, not only the text, but some of the tool box sizes are stupid small too..... and I don't even have the "page" or "tool" icons to do any adjustments there ???

Good thing I have great eyesight ! Urggggggggg !

Lots to love about the new PC though.

Peace,

Fish

I hope you loaded all the latest drivers on that machine, and not the old ones that come on those CD's with all your new stuff. Also, Let Vista do a windows update. YOU MUST DO THAT

Hey guys....

Newsl1, Yes, the first thing I did (after having to get a new wireless adapter, because my 2 year old one was not compatible with Vista :(...and yes, I called Lynxis, to hear, I'm sorry sir, but we haven't published new drivers for that yet :()

.....was to let Windows do all of its Vista updates > Freaking 61 of them, for 384 megs ! Holy crap !

My monitor is set for the max res, 2048 x 1162 (piece of cake for my vid card) but no, I haven't gone online to check for a later driver for my card. Will do that right now, but I'm still skeptical that it will miraculously change my font size. Hoping so though.

Will check back here though.

So, I need to get the latest drivers "online" for my vid card, and what else ???

Thanks,

1. Click Start - All Programs - Accessories. Right click on ‘Command Prompt’ and click ‘Run as Administrator’.

2. Type the following in the command prompt:vssadmin list shadowstorage The results shown will be similar to this:

Used Shadow Copy Storage space: 2.702 GB

Allocated Shadow Copy Storage space: 2.933 GB

Maximum Shadow Copy Storage space: 5 GB

3. If you feel like Vista is taking up too much space, then use this command to lower it:vssadmin resize shadowstorage /On=[Drive Letter]: /For=[Drive Letter]: /Maxsize=[space]For example, I executed this command to lower it to 2GB:

vssadmin resize shadowstorage /On=C: /For=C: /Maxsize=2GB

Those instructions are for you to shrink your "system restore" that vista has lurking in the dark, you'll notice overtime your hdd space will slowly be getting "eatin" up, this is the corporate. Setting it to 2gb will help you save 8gb of space. I recommend doing this, I know its only 8gb, but to me I want as much as I payed for.

Hey guys...

Newsl1, it's kind of funny; I tried to go get updates for my graphics card, from the XFX site, and they were trying to make me jump through all kinds of hoops (register product, register as a user, etc). Tried that crap once, it didn't go through, and I was tired, so I said screw it.

Woke up this morning and had the pop up that Windows had several updates available. Well, one just hasppened to be for my graphics card, and another was for my monitor :) So, I updated them {don't know if those updates were new drivers, specifically} but in any case, after that, I went to my homepage, and found that I had a few new options on my "Page" drop downs tab. One was the "save" option.

So I set my screen up just the way I liked it, clicked save, and Bam ! Text size issue fixed :) Whoo Hoo ! I can now put away the magnifying glass ;) LOL

Soco, Honestly, I'm not too worried about HD space. By the time my 500gig HD (and my 300gig external backup HD) is full, I will probably be ready to get 2 or 10 terrabytes on a SSD ;) ......for a $150 :)

Peace,

Fish
