GOt a dumb question here for you guys!

Recommended Posts

I got a good question here. My subs are dual 4 ohm and I wired them up to the amp so that the amp was at a one ohm load. Heres the specs on my amp:

Amplifier Specifications

Number of Channels 1 - Mono

RMS Power (4 ohms) 300 watts x 1 channel

RMS Power (2 ohms) 450 watts x 1 channel

RMS Power (1 ohm) 600 watts x 1 channel

Bridged RMS Power Not Bridgeable

Total RMS Power Output 600 watts

Peak Power Output N/A

Minimum Impedance Unbridged 1 ohm

So my question is am I pushing 450 watts into my subs or 600? I just read a post that a dual 4 ohm sub can be wired at 2 or 8 ohm's. Thanks!

Well how many subs do you have?

If you have two, then you can only wire them to 1ohm or 4ohms.

So you're getting 600rms.

Here's a site that'll help:

Follow that link.

EDIT: The link is fixed for a 2 dual 4ohm sub setup. You can change that though.

hmm...why ask if you know you wired it to a one ohm load?

unless you arent sure you wired it right

I got two subs and I always thought it was 600 going to them, but when I read that it kinda freaked me out lol. So between the two subs there is 8 ohms total and when I run a pos and a neg to the amp it goes to a one ohm load. Thanks for the reassurance guys!

wiring 1 dual 4 ohm sub can be wired down to 2 ohms. add another dual 4 ohm sub in parallel and you can wire it down to 1 ohm (which is what you did) and just so you know in case you may be thinking differently, each sub is getting 300 watts
