Twistedchild420
I don't think anyone knows what difference it makes, i sure don't. People luv to assume suff and really can't back up what they'er saying. Who really knows what a bass boast does, why even have it on the amp, if it's just gonna add distortion, heat, and clipping. Has anyone ever tested the effect of the bass boast, or are we going by what we've heard by word of mouth. This is quite possibly the dumbest thing i have ever heard on the interwebz! P4killer_
yea i never use the bass knob, if you set your gain right you should be good, and i guess you could edit your eq settings on your hu to fine tune to your liking, i do a lil bit, but as far as a knob goes, the only positives in my mind are like if your need to quickly kill your subs ie:. cops-- but i mean the volume knob also does this -- if only a lil bit slower or if your trying to pull a "meade" and surprise peeps with the bass during demos or something. Chode69
i love my bass knob...BUT its tuned into my amps...gains turned down...so that way when i have the bass knob all the way down..the bass is all the way down..when i crank it...all hell breaks loose. i pretty much have it tuned to where when i crank it...its set to make the amps run at their peak cleanly. so turning it down only makes it a lil more clean and bass drops off. and to who said it hasnt been tested...hell i did some "tests" the other day...i had someone sit in my truck...i tricked them...bass knob all the way down..there like ok wheres the bass then BOOM...hell look at all steves videos...and people mentioning "THE KNOB" is that enough proof? quit typing just to see your own words unless you have something useful. 1992Chevy K1500
Here is a video that elemental designs did a while back that shows what bass boost does on an O-scopehttp://www.icixsound.com/iv/view_video.php...8ff95ccfa94cebd That ^^ needs to be stickied. Perfect proof that bass boost is bad for the subs when used incorrectly. Chode, I may do what you did (assuming my amp comes with a bass boost knob). TechSys
The bass knob I have goes in between the headunit and amps. That way I can turn all sub amps down at the same time. I don't think it adds distortion or anything as I tuned everything before adding the knob. Could be wrong though.
