If you took subs from the same company same on every level but the sizes what would be losdest. 3(or 4) 12", 2 15" or 1 18". All wired down to same Ohm with same amp and specs. 12 RE audio X series 12's 4 gauge wiring to back batt (soon to be 0 gauge) 0 gauge from batt to amp kinetik 1800 in back clarion cx-200 HU SPL 3000 wired at 2 ohms 8 Re 6.5 full range speakers Re Xt 800.4 4 channel amplifier Autopager car alarm

Crump Posted October 15, 2009 Report Posted October 15, 2009 4 12's , not only for the cone area, but if they were the same subs, they would have the same specs ( magnet weight motor etc, other than baskets n all that) so you would have ex 200 lbs of motor/mag instead of 50 lbs of motor/mag on 1 18. Rogers Posted October 15, 2009 Report Posted October 15, 2009 well 4 12's is more cone area... but what you have to take into account for is..... if your running 1 18... i would assume you would only run a single amp.... what you need to remember is that the more resistors you hook up in a circuit the greater the impedance rise... so if you hook up and 18 at 1ohm.. it dc resistance is going to be around .9 if you hook up 4 12's at 1ohm... the dc resistance will be a bit higher say around 1.3 then once you slap the woofer(s) in an enclosure you will get box rise... so your impedance will be a lil higher than that... and we all know higher impedances= less power so in short(yeah i know its already long)... if you run a single amp i would go with fewer but bigger woofers... if you run multiple amps then i would go for the quantity option... someone correct me if im wrong.....my .o2 http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/79921-rogers-700-dream-car-update-page-17-a-wall/?p=2335774 93 Saturn SC2My system4 SA-15's Walled 2 Cerwin-Vega S2000's 3 Kinetik Hc2000's Dual 200amp alts. you guys done with the peepee touching contest or do I need to end it?
