OrenB217
So if you look at my sig, Crump and I figured out that I only have a 17" trunk opening in my maxima, which is not big enough to fit 1 15" BTL, so does anyone have any input on doing 2 12" Audioque HD3s in a 4 cube box with the sundown saz 2000? Crump
As of right now I have a box with 3.8 cubes so 1.9 per woofer, @ 36 hz with roughly 13 square inches of port per cube. So lets get some input from SMD Quote Team gg Team doa Installs I have doneMy 2010 Rebuild 144 db so far....2 DC xl 10s Firing into cabin on a RF 25002 12" AQ HD's powered by a Saz 2k + Lots o Mids+Highs
Marlo Stanfield
With that power and space I'd run 2 10s or 12s that require small amounts of airspace that will be more efficient w/ that power. I don't see why 17" is not enough for a 15" woofer. The boxes I put 15's in usually have less on the face then 17". I usually try to put a 15" woofer in a box that is 16-16.5" on the face where the sub is mounted. If it were me I'd make that 15 fit. Well for me its 17"-1.5" (Mdf Top and bottem plate)=15.5 Outer ring of sub = 15.625" And there wouldnt be that much space between the baffles and the top and bottem plate, like less than an inch on top and bottem of the sub, so i dont think it would be that strong? Marlo Stanfield
I've used 16" exactly for single 15s before without any issues at all, just brace it sum inside and you'll be just fine. 17" is plenty for a single 15, don't know why I didn't pick that up in ur first post. Crump
I dont like there only being about 1/4"-1/2" between the circle and the top and bottem plate, I just dont see that as being too strong. Especially with 2k+ watts and a btl. And this wasnt even the box plan I had with 17", with 17" I came up with a little more than 3 cubes. And I'm pretty sure he doesnt want that. Marlo Stanfield
W/ 16" tall enclosure we ran a 15" AQ HD3(old version) off 4k daily with zero issues at all. We did a double baffle and sum bracing but no issues at all where the subs were mounted. It works just fine and that is from real experience, not someone who is just "guessing" at it like so many do on here. Something like a 15" DC LVL4 would be perfect off that amount of power in a smaller enclosure like you'd have. With more space it might have sum issues handling that power daily, but in an inefficient enclosure like you'd be running it would work just fine. Quote 1998 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer... Crump
Ok, so the height is good now, but with the bracing I still get 3.14 cubes (which he doesnt want) But for 2 12's I get 3.81 cubes w/ 16.5 inches of height with everything i need for a good box. He wants input on aq not weather or not the box will work.
