Sutliff
I am currently building an "IB" right now for my 03 Monte Carlo SS. One piece of 3/4" MDF sandwhiched between two pieces of 3/4" birch plywood. Then a ring of 3/4" birch is glued, screwed, & bondo'd to the bottom, & the sub will be screwed to the rings, & "hang" on either side like a cow's utters. Two 12" Kicker Comps. I assure y'all, ... this is one "trunk baffle" that is being done right/correctly. * NO PART OF THE CAR'S REAR DECK/CHASSIS IS BEING CUT/ALTERED WHATSOEVER * Quote Zeke '14 2003 Chevy Monte Carlo SS Vehicle Details & Mod List: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/garage/vehicle/1703-chevrolet-monte-carlo-ss/ Audio Build Log: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/143276-2003-chevy-monte-carlo-ss-audio-build-ib-build Pioneer FH-P8000BT Infinity Kappa Perfect 6.1 Fi IB3 (Two 12", 2-ohm SVC) RF T400-2 & T500-1bdCP MechMan S Series 240A XS Power D3400 & D975
bassface
we used to use those in the early 90's in cars with trunks, they use to just call them baffle boards back then. Mount the subs to a board facing the seats and seal the trunk. Compared to now, they rattle the shit out of trunk even though its sealed. I guess you could build it someway that it wouldnt rattle but it wouldnt be easy. Edited May 24, 2012 by bassface

bassface
Like i said man in the old days everyone with a trunk ran baffle boards, probably not competitors but people on the street. At the time they sounded good because no one knew any different. If you can figure out how to address the issue of trunk flex, may sound good. Sutliff
I am sorry, ... I thought you were assuming I was building it so they were going to fire FWD (TWD the seats) ... Sutliff
Indeed, Sir. Just with two 12-inch subs. Trunk volume in a 2003 Monte is 15.8cf. What sub is that? Car? trunk volume? Anything you have in the setup I would truly love to hear about. This is my first time with an IB. I have always just done the two 12's in a sealed, & been done with it ... but hte booomin' of rap music, etc., has kind of left me, ... so I wanted to do something different ... & something no one else around here has really done, & certainly reclaiming trunk space for raod trips, shopping, etc., is an extra, added bonus. bassface
I googled baffle board images and this was one of them. Be interesting to see what it sounds like.

Joe X
Using the subsonic filter on your amp for a IB setup is beneficial, Higher Qts, higher Xmax are some good characteristics for a sub to have when playing on IB, the Fi IB3, acoustic elegance IB and the Image Dynamics IDMAX are good candidates for IB.
