BassAddict32
might get something for this, but does magnet size matter? i mean, i'm sure it does a bit, but wouldn't you pick a 60OZ neo magnet over a 100OZ ferrite? and how well do each perform? like a 60oz over a 140oz? HHR Ed
magnet size doesnt matter too much. Motor strength does matter somewhat. It depend on how it is incorporated into the subs design. So magnet size alone is not an indicator of how good or bad a sub will perform. Can't really improve much on what he had to say. But oz per oz Neo mags generally are stronger than ferrite, yet their big negatives are the high cost of quality mags and that when they heat up they do lose some of their strength. Both are big reasons why u don't see Neo mags in many woofers and the ones they are in are very pricey or are used to put up big numbers in a short period of time.(DD Z, IA Warden, Shocker Apoc, Neo Sigs, etc). BassAddict32
alright, new question. lol. what determines the motor strength then? i feel kinda weird asking this because i've trying to learn what i can for 2 years and STILL don't know stuff. wow. Yup, NEO materials cost more and it takes extra effort and special equipment usually to manufacture them, which also drives up the cost. NEO is much stronger, but the geometry of the motor is also very important. A badly designed NEO may not be as good as a greatly designed Ferrite. And vice versa. All the subs mentioned can be for daily purposes but they are built for the most part for certain reasons regardless of how they're used. Quote 1998 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer... Decaf
symantics>you i want to see some wardens in a death match... then test to see how much motor strength the neos lost from minutes of extreme abuse (on a slight side note, i love watching the vids with the 4 15 wardens in the yellow cavi)
