dblovah51 Posted November 3, 2009 Report Posted November 3, 2009 hey burrito i was wondering do u have any experience or heard anything about the beltech lowering torsion keys, i know they said it gives a better ride and lowers the vehicle at stock key position. what i want to know is, lowering my stock torsion and lowering the beltech torsion will the beltech give me the extra 2'' down or will they both drop at the same max, because my key is practically wind all the way down. 2004 trailblazer 4 FI BTL 18s (2) DC 10.0k xs power d3100s mechman 270 158.2 @41

abervintageman42 Posted November 3, 2009 Report Posted November 3, 2009 The problem with the 4x4 is the front axles will rub on the frame or so I've heard.... this, and you have torsion bars and everything else, your cv angles will also be way off, dropping a 4x4 is definately limited, way my friend did it was remove the rear block, got drop shackles and cranked the t-bars all the way down
dblovah51 Posted November 3, 2009 Author Report Posted November 3, 2009 this, and you have torsion bars and everything else, your cv angles will also be way off, dropping a 4x4 is definately limited, way my friend did it was remove the rear block, got drop shackles and cranked the t-bars all the way down Rear block? is that a front end part? drop shackles for 4x4. can u explain a lil bit more for me im not good with 4x4 suspension at all. im all about big rims and big stereo das it n 2wd vehicles! my torsion is wind all the way down and i jus need an inch more to cover the 26'' tires 2004 trailblazer 4 FI BTL 18s (2) DC 10.0k xs power d3100s mechman 270 158.2 @41

abervintageman42 Posted November 3, 2009 Report Posted November 3, 2009 unless your talkin about the rear end blocks! which arent a problem right now cas my rear can go all the way down, thats the easiest part the front is the headache. im talking about the blocks that go between the axle and the leafsprings, just take that block out, get 2wd u joints, put drop shackles on it and crank the t-bars down
Loudcav Posted November 3, 2009 Report Posted November 3, 2009 im talking about the blocks that go between the axle and the leafsprings, just take that block out, get 2wd u joints, put drop shackles on it and crank the t-bars down not all 4x4s have leafs all the way around he has a coil front suspension
abervintageman42 Posted November 3, 2009 Report Posted November 3, 2009 not all 4x4s have leafs all the way around he has a coil front suspension i know thats why i said REAR block in my previous post, and i am aware of the coil front suspension, crank the torsion bars down in the front, and in the rear take out the block, get 2wd u bolts and drop shackles

dustin_shull Posted November 3, 2009 Report Posted November 3, 2009 on a s10 blazer 4x4, the rear is sprung over, so to lower it you would treat it as the same as a 2wd....blocks or pull a leaf (which ever you choose), then the front you can just drop the torsion bars, but only to a certain extent, because you can take to much angle out of the half-shafts and cause them to beat themselves to death....since they weren't designed to run at that inclination.... I haven't lowered one in years so I can't tell you exactly how low you can go, so just mess with it and use common sense.... lol, i do remember a dude comming into work and saying he unloaded the bars and reindexed the bars to drop it like 5-6", but the half shafts were no a no-go...hehe... btw, the whole "torsion bar keys don't change the ride" gimmick is such a bunch of horse shit....all the new keys are are just a re indexed key way that does the exact same thing as a stock'r with the bars ran up or down....it just sucks for the installer because that sorry bastard has to preload them while installing....
