soundbwoy Posted November 13, 2009 Report Share Posted November 13, 2009 Ive never had experience with the 9887, but i do have the 9886 and i would say it is a good unit, it doesnt have the same eq as the 9887, but u can buy the imprint box seperate to open up the eq functions. And you have to mount the processor in the vehicle permanently. The 9887 imprint kit is considerably cheaper, and the little mic and the brain get put back on the shelf when you are done with it. The 9887 has a good deal more processing technology built into ( as well as the imprint processor ) it versus the 9886. The downside to using the 9887 with the imprint is that you can not manipulate the eq settings with the imprint turned on. You can use, Bass, Treble, Balance and Fade, sub on and off, and that is it.
