resonator delete? What does this do to the sound/performance of the car?

Resonators generally on factory vehicles are there to work with the muffler to quiet down the exhaust. Most of the time if you remove it, you can get some better airflow and generally a louder exhaust.

i have 2 Flowmaster 40's on my 94 Grand Marquis, H-pipe turned down, with 2 of 4 cats removed... how much do you think it will cost to have the resonator(s) removed, and how much louder do you think it could be on stock 4.6 engine??

Not sure how much louder its gonna be. back about 6 years ago I had the resonator removed from my old honda and if I remember correctly it cost me 40 bucks for the one it had.

Its probably not gonna make it much louder, and cost wise it should be fairly inexpensive, all you do is cut them out and weld 2 new pipe in where they were. I do it all the time for people, if I have to cut out a resonater on like a honda, its probably gonna cost the customer $25 to $35 max.

It should deffinitally be a decent amount louder. Also it will give you more exhaust velocity/flow so you will gain throttle response along with hp/tq

take a look and see where your o2 sensors are, if the sensor is before the resonator or cats.. leave them alone or else it will screw with yrou readings.. if there after the 02 sensor go nuts!

on my car ( 2.2 chevy cavalier ) no cat with a cherry bomp and a side pipe was extremly loud when you were ahr don the throttle but if you wanted to to be quite that was possible to do. but the cops told me to quite it down so threw a resonator and a river muffler on it and were good to go now!

Those cherry bombs sound pretty good my boss has them on his sierra. I like the tone. My magnaflows sound better though magnaflow FTW
