the problem is : #1. there is not a plug . its hard wired . to where i dont know.

common sense says to the main part of the head unit but when i

remove the dash face plate and try the main unit only comes

foreword about 2 inches. so i cant see/feel to unplug it.

#2. do i have to remove both main and tape/eq? "gotz1lung"

in his build only removed the tape/eq part. i pmed him but

received no response. 1992chevyk1500 found the harness and

face plate for me(thank you)but am having a hell of a time gettin

this figured out.

above the gas pedal the brain is there. I believe it is a single 7 mm holding it up... but it has been a long while

They are a bit of a pita. All the plugs you need are on the "brain" above the gas pedel. You un hook them, plug them into a metra 70-1858, then pull the wires back up to where the aftermarket h/u installs. then wire the h/u plug to the 70-1858 in the dash, not out out the truck like I normally do, because once you pull the plugs over the dash support bar, it gets a bit tight putting everything back in. so I leave them under it. youll have a plug that is unused, its the one that runs up to the radio tunner in the bezel

When I did my 91 Chevy, I pulled them both but didn't have to cut the wires off the EQ... There were plugs there. When you install your aftermarket HU it will go where the EQ was. I actually think I still have one of those install pieces somethere... Also when I did my 91, Crutchfield sent me a pocket that goes where the stock HU went... It was a PITA but well worth it...

Holy shit that brings back memories of when I first started installing... I remember the guy that was training me said "well i'm gonna let you just give this one a whirl and see how long it takes you to figure it out"... being a cocky teenager i was like "got it!"... hahah took me like a half hour to figure out the brain was down by the gas pedal.

i love that button....it was my best friends.he shot himself a couple

of yrs ago and it just reminds me of him. its in my work truck and

we both have the same businesses.

shit ive tried for hours but cant even get to the back of the main

unit to see if theres a plug. the tape deck part is hard wired so

when i tried to follow those wires they just disappear into the loom

somewhere. since its my work truck i didnt want F anything up. :01nocomment8so:
