coil burning??

ok...sooo...ummm....

Im going to go out on a limb and say that a level 3 (re se) cant handle 1200 watts, based on the fact that 600 watts stunk one of the coils up....

I am also going to say that only one coil CAN be run on a DVC sub, so long as you are running half the power the sub is rated for...in this case it would be 300 watts...

noob, whats the other side of that BNC cable turn into. speaker wire or an RCA?

Its an adapter to female RCA from the Scope and a Male RCA to speaker wire connection to the woofer.

What is so wrong about running 1 coil on a DVC sub?

The t&s parameters will be off and reduced power handling among other things.

hahah siiick i gotta try that. right now i just have a bnc to male rca.

do you just stick the speaker wire end straight to the woofer terminals or the amp output terminals or something

If you short out the other coil T/S are still very close to what they are with both. And power handling is still around 75% of rated power. Could you elaborate on the other things?

well we know the power handling will be reduced to at least half :D or i guess more with what kicker guy said ^^ lol

I dont know about the ts parameters...not that smart...But theres nothing wrong at all with running only one coil so long as you run the correct amount of power accordingly :)

Yeah I guess but would you buy a v8 motor and run only 4 cylinders and I know they have that 4 6 8 crap now for fuel mileage but you know what I'm sayin.

I know what you are saying, but not wiring the other coil doesn't remove it from helping handle heat.

On a bunch of DLS subs they recommend only running 1 coil when using a sealed box. Then you can either leave the other coil or short it out to change the Qes of the sub to suit different enclosures.

Power handling is like, 65-70% of normal. The rest of the coil still acts as a heatsink for the part that is being run. Then again it's usually done in a SQ context so power handling is pretty much a moot point.
