Can I mix dry cell batteries with the original car battereis? Some say don't , some say do... I just don't know anymore. The thing is I have two Kinetic 3800 already hooked up parallel with the original two car batteries my van came with. I just received two Batcap 4000 'swhich I want to use to swap out the original car batteries. My worry is if they will be enough to turn over my v-8 PSD. I also received two smaller batcap 800's yesterday, of which one was to go in my son's ATV. Well it wouldn't turn the engine over and my charger won't charge them. The factory said no need to charge them since they are fully charged. I got 12.8 volts when I measured it. I'd love to hear your opinions please. 2004 Ford E-350 PSD. Pioneer AVH-P3100DVD Head Unit. Watch the bass Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 I did that in the 90 th, mixing normaly carbattery with an Optima redtop controlled both over an Orion MBR 70. Torres Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 no. dont do it. the wet cell battery will rest at a lower voltage than the dry cell, and it will bring the dry cell resting voltage down. imo making it pointless to have one. replace with a dry cell, and add another dry cell
Boon Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 Something is messed up if a Batcap 800 won't turn over an ATV. Either they're flat or something was hooked up wrong. I've started loads of cars with a single 17Ah AGM battery. 10.x volts fo' life!
