i just started beating about a month ago. i have one 15inch kicker comp and i built my own sealed box. and my question is my friends tell me it should be louder and that i should cut a port into it. and i want to wait to do anything to my box because i am i broke a$$ dude and i got a piece from my buddy for stock radios and you wire right positive and negative and same with the left and my RCAS go into that then to my amp and thats wired right to my back 6x9s and i wanted to wait until i get the money for a dash kit(99 ford Taurus) and a head unit. also i was wondering if i do decided to cut a port to cut a circle or 2 or a rectangular slit....and i was also thinking about poly fill but i really don't know my sub is recommended for sealed and if i do cut ports do i have to rebuild or desgin my box in anyway? what the positive or negatives of each are. any input will help me thank you

and my stock radio has a tape player and a broken ass 6 disc cd changer and i am using the stupid tapes with the head phone wire to plug into my cd player thats prolly got a lot to do with it. just let me know what you guys think.

what size box is it in now? and if you go ported with round ports.. you should try aero flared ports.. or build another box with slot ports.. but ported might be the way to go for louder

I mean how loud can a 15" COMP get? I have two in a sealed box and it pounded but my single 15" in a vented box beats alot louder, so I think you should build a whole new box you'll probably notice a big difference... don't go too big for a single comp they don't need a huge box.

Also I would recommend a new HU if you want to get serious, what amp are you using? that subwoofer is 250RMS so you can't expect too much bang, what amplifier are you using and what is the rated voltage on that HU?

i just got my head unit and dash kit going to install today its a jvc headunit 11.2-16v says the head unit it was cheap but was told was not too bad for first headunit has sub controls and built a big box 17.5x20 i think after i put in my headunit it prolly will make a big difference because a sound distortion through my speakers And my tape adapter. i am going to cut i port about a inch wide and like 15 inches long and see how that goes and i know mt sub isnt the greatest but its not bad im a right? im broke got head unit for xmas and bought the dashkit myself i paid 60 bucks for my sub with my mas discount so not bad right with a free box i built a practically free power acoustic 400wx2 amp but i might wire up a california amp 400wx2 to see if we can see a difference i was given my 8awg jl wire and 6awg ground and rcas im broke and got a super hook up by my friends only thing i bought was my sub dashkit and my fuse

When you do the port, just don't cut a hole in the box, make sure you get the dimensions right for the port...you need L x W x D on the port.....also when typing out long paragraphs like above, use a little spacing to make it easier to read...thats just MHO
