If a black hole were too be created, which is extraordinarily unlikely, it would be too small to do anything and would fizzle away instantaneously.

Its already up and running. They are commissioning the collider and are recording results from the collisions. The only thing to wait for now is higher speeds and more collisions. I believe they have it running near half the speed that its designed for.

I think there is a great misunderstanding of black holes anyway, and people are afraid of them because they dont understand how they work.

Black holes are created when a start collapses in on itself and all the matter is compressed into a single point.

Gravity is a product of mass. A given mass has a certain amount of gravity.

The mass in a black hole is the same mass (actually somewhat less) than the mass it had as a star.

So a black hole has the same gravity it had as a star. It does not gain gravity. Its simply that things can now move closer to it, Because it is compressed.

If our sun were to collapse to a black hole, the earth would still orbit it as usual. we would not be sucked in.

So if a few atoms were smashed and somehow became a black hole inside the atom smasher, they would still only have the same gravity as they did before they were smashed.

Which is such a small amount that it cannot be detected.
