None of us on the other side of the camera knows if it was right or wrong what they did. If it was their commander's intent that it be done (which I'm sure got to Colonel level) then I'll be damned if it doesn't. There's a collective hundreds of years of experience involved in these decisions. They were not acting out or out of line and I guarantee none of them got a court martial. You are taught in a house to house or city style fighting to not try to sight in with the perfect sight picture. Instead put the front site post on the target and squeeze.
