Refurbished Security System?

Recommended Posts

I was looking at several refurbished viper alarm systems. They are obviously less expensive than the brand new ones. Is it a bad idea to buy refurbished or no? The one I am looking at has a 2 year warranty as well.

Thanks,

Sam

Refurbished and brand new ones are going to have the same odds of breaking, so why not go for the cheaper route? The 2 year warranty sounds worth it as it is.

well i don't buy refurbished, but to be completely honest, I can bet that 90% of the directed line that is so called bad, is installer error, I have been doing viper now for 7 years, 3 years legitimately, and had 0 issues with their modules

well I had 1 but it was installation error, when securing the unit the D2D jumper came out

Couldn't agree more! with the amount of shops that carry directed products you're bound to get some dumb ass that thinks sending in a brain fixes a problem but in reality it is installer error.

Also in the defense of some installation techs, sometimes they are never taught how to troubleshoot a system correctly. you have the interface modules which some are data to data(D2D) all that they know is that this box is supposed to go to this vehicle because it says so in a tech document. they know nothing about the system otherwise. what it is, how it works, why it works, what makes it work

haha directed tech's dont even know how the new D2D systems and bypasses work half the time, how are we supposed to!? lol

Last week I heard on the phone: "wow our directions make no sense and contradict themselves... i guess we will just try some stuff and see if it works", when useing an xk01... their most popular module probably.
