Yeah, he told me he could recone my SE-XXXs into MTs and give it the 3 spider config to make it more musical and said it would be 2000w friendly.

SX , XXX, and MT same damn coil and cone just diff spider packs, throwing stiffer spiders doesnt make it a 2krms sub or even close to an MT....who knows though seems gregs a woofer engineer now.

I'll give my experience for the OPs interpretation.

I did direct swaps from the MX 18 to a DC 18 and the MX had much more "boom" and "depth" to the sound while very smoothly transitioning between all notes i threw at it. The DC still played pretty low but not anything like the MX, the DC sounded louder IMO and metered on average 1.5db higher than the MX on the TL.

If i had the option between the two it would come down to the range i wanted to reproduce. Down to 30ish hz I would take the DC but the MX will sound much better into the 20s and below. Lastly, the tinsels on the MX drivers are WEAK so you MUST send a clean signal or risk burning the driver to little pieces and the basket diameter is bigger than a 6spoke/12spoke chinese basket so dont plan on direct swapping out other drivers easily.
