alot of shops only hire Certified installers, but you have to renew every year I believe.

yeah, only upside is that once you have a MECP cert it will be easier to get a job with no experience. But again, there are thousands of people that just learn hands on, which is always the best, studying a 300page book doesnt help much. A school, now there you will learn alot, get hands on training, AND get a good reference for employers.

But just to let you know I would say about 75% of what a installer does is not the fun stuff others think, its usually doing theft repair, alarms, fixing other employees screw ups, or just the common deck+4... Well, Video is comming big, headrests, and roof mount flip downs are always good business.

I have a ritual called "terminator". I crouch in the shower in the "naked terminator" pose. With eyes closed I crouch for a minute and visualize either Arnie or the guy from the 2nd movie. I then start to hum the T2 theme. Slowly I rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me get through my day. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It sorta ruins the fantasy.

x2 the day to day stuff is quite boring, but then you get the good stuff and if you get lucky enough to get some real custom fab work then it makes up for it!

Im MECP certified have been since last may, it hasnt helped me get a job any, kinda sucks bcuz i went to Installers Insitute had the highest scores in the class, and nobody will hire me. The only shop that was thinkin about hiring me was EAV down the road from me and they hired some kid who didnt know what he was doin bcuz he paid 5 grand for 2 15's, 3 amps and the install. Hopefully after i get a little bit of money and get my own setup goin i can show people what i can do instead of telling the what i can do. I guess to shops seeing is believing ya know. Good luck zax, II was alot of fun and i would do it again if it didnt cost 5 g's

Lemme say this.

PORTFOLIO PORTFOLIO PORTFOLIO

Did I mention a Portfolio??

Take pics of EVERYTHING

Mistakes and the like. If they see that you can do your own work and handle any mistake that comes up it helps alot.
