I charge a single Yellow Top at 14.9v. It rests at 13v and works fine.

larger battery banks require a higher charge to get over the internal resistance of each battery. 15.x volts is ok if you have several batteries to charge but I wouldn't put it on just one. Kinetiks rep said it is fine to charge my battery bank at up to 15.3v but not to exceed 15.5ish or it will start to cook the batteries.

Wrong....

Also depends on the battery my batteries say on them to charge at 14.7v.

But I agree with what your trying to say, some people are getting a little crazy about high voltages. Is 15v the new 14v?

Over charging the battery can be unhealth for it. I know i charge my battery but not for long time. A weak or dead battery can kill an alternator....

A weak or bad alternator is a weak or bad alternator. If you have a weak or bad battery you'll likely find out about it before a good alt is damaged.

edit - and you cant overcharge batteries unless you are using too high of voltage.

Any time you have have a power wire next to your frame put some rubber hosing (or cut up an innertube) around it. The wire is bound to wiggle (due to driving or flex) and the casing will eventually wear through.
