Nightshade
Generally accepted scores are sealed up on the dash, though. I personally couldnt care less what someone is metering at the headrest. Well if it helps any my dual Nightshade 15 setup that is tuned to 37hz does a 152+ on the dash sealed and loses spl by going to the headrest. Last time I metered it when I was only doing a 151.3 on the dash I could only do a 150.6 at the headrest. And to the op that asked how was a single 8 louder than a single 15. In my car for spl I drop down to a single 15 instead of 2 15's and I gain in spl. The single 15 box is tuned to 46hz instead of 37hz like the 2 15 box is. The single 15 box will also do over a 153 and is generally 1.3-1.5 db louder than my 2 15 box. The main reason is the freq is better for spl in the car the same way the 8's freq is better for spl in the car than the 15 is. sundownz
want me to start a list of 50+ songs released in the past 2 years commercially available that all reside below 35hz original contenti consider low when below 35hz basically... i have no interest in buzzin 65hz notes, i like the air movement i love meca style TL scores, its a real world score that says how loud it is on ur ears, not on dash or kick where ive never found my ears, lol 50 songs out of... 500,000+ ? That isn't much I'm not saying nothing exists EVER that goes under 35 Hz... but it is absolutely NOT common. It's also not like the setup completely drops off under 35 Hz -- that was the peak. I personally couldnt care less what someone is metering at the headrest. Telling you... NOBODY is ever happy... if I post a score at the dash at the vehicle frequency it's too high... if I post one in the 30s it's not low enough... if I use a frequency that is too long to build up in a short ass car and meter MECA style then someone doesn't care about that *laughs* If we tuned this setup to hit the dash at the resonant peak it would be well over 150 dB. We are show-casing lower frequencies... and in a vehicle as short as a CRX the low frequency cannot build up sealed up so, just as if you were jamming your system going down the road, we opened it up and metered right where your head would be -- seems pretty realistic to me Quote - Jacob Fuller - Owner, Sundown Audio - Sundown Audio on FACEBOOK - Please DO NOT PM ME -- use my email address -- [email protected]

sundownz
how did you get 149.9 with 1 sa-8 and only 149.7 with 15 NS?? Different frequency / mic position... we are an octave down from what we were doing with the SA-8 (this requires 4x the displacement).
