getting on a car audio team

Ive been into car audio for about 4 years now and im working on a new setup but broke as hell!!! I go to competitions when I can and do everything that would require someone to be on a car audio team but I dont have the money or anything to get this stuff done..Ive applied for a few but most of the requirements are way too high for me to reach that level at the moment and I dont have the kind of money to get such builds that these teams require. So whats the deal? Im not trying to ask anybody to let me on their team and them just throw me free stuff to put in my car but ive tried to get on a team and it always seems to come down to the money which I dont have a lot of. any thoughts, suggestions, comments?

Being part of a "team" means that you compete for that team and provide help and a good representation for that team.

that has nothing to do with what I said....I can contribute and represent said team great..just like I said..it comes down to not having the correct build and or money to get to that mid range build for the typical team or whatever..if I had the gear and everything id be at every show myself could possibly attend and respresnt grea.t

how are you going to contribute? This isnt a sport with handouts. There arent alot of companies that are going to just give things away without something in return. Have you set any records won any comps compete in an organization? do you drive tens of thousands of miles to compete? work at a shop that sells the brand you want to run? have a way to push the gear for companies? Hell do you have a hot shit youtube page with hundreds of subscribers and videos with tons of views? If the answer is no then no one will give you free stuff even if you are dedicated to the sport. Plain and simple I'm not sure alot of guys get stuff for free being on a team. They get perks and discounts but nothing is free. They may throw a bone here and there but I really doubt that its a full ride for anything.

how are you gonna contribute to the team if you dont have a setup? its not like they accept you and give you a bunch of amps and equipment so you can build your own...Ram and n8 are right. You arent given anything unless you have a hook up. If you wanna be on a team, you have to bring something that they can benefit from to the table.

Being on a team doesn't mean you get free stuff. I'm on Team Sundown and my stuff isn't but there is a discount for team members. If you want free stuff then you need to win a world title or two. Then manufacturers will throw free stuff at you build world class show car with there stuff in it. A team is a group of people helping each other with builds and testing so everyone on the team can get better.
