Need help on how to wire up 4 15s

Recommended Posts

Okay, i have 2 15s kickers cvrs. and 2 15s cerwin vega vmax. all 4 are rated 500 rms, and all are 4 ohms.

so it wouldnt have phase problems right?

each is wired to 2 ohms, but wouldnt it be better at 1 ohm or lower? is it possible?...

my other dumb question is, i have never connected more then 2 subs in a amp. and amps have 4 slots for speakers, 2 slot wires connects to 1 sub. so how do i connect 4? would i need two amps?..

(note - amp still not bought)

why are you mixing 2 diff brands of subs?????

x2 on this. i would have expected tehbert0 to tell you this but he didnt.

mixing 2 different brands of subs is one of the worst things you can do. one brand will move more air than another (also the like 20 other parameters) brand and by mixing both of those together will cause the one moving less to fight against the one moving more air. thus causing cancellation (correct me if im wrong) and making your whole system sound like

Kranny is right. But that doesn't mean you can't build 2 separate boxes, and 1 amp to run the kickers, and another amp to run the cerwin vega's. There isn't really a problem there.

even if you had 2 diff boxes, 1 set of subs will go lower then the other, maybe its just me but i like all my subs sounding the same, and they will sound different

I tried adding on another pair of subs to my set up once, (different brand, different amp) and I was extremely disappointed. The second set sounded like ass and was barely noticeable. I thought it was because I didn't have the electrical to back it up but either way, it was a waste of time.

Let the boy do what he wants to do. Go talk to the dude Hotdog (IIRC) on here, he is using different sizes and he loves it. Also I have heard 2 type r 12s and 2 kicker cvx 12's in 2 boxes in the trunk of a cougar one day. It sounded perfectly fine, they were all flowing together.

he uses different sizes because most likely he has them crossed over at certain freq's.
