it all depends.

but if the box is right you can do 3 to 5k per woofer.

Let's put it this way...If I was putting 20k into each one for burps, they would survive.

I was just thinking about doing a hifonics 2610d to start then adding a second 2610 and strapping them together onto the one level 5

Well depending on your coil setup, you are either going to waste your time buying another amp, or you are going to be running half power of the first amp until the second one is purchased.

these threads get hella hold! there is Alot of ppl on this site that have and are throwing quite a bit of power to em, thats y they have that lil button at the top that says search, its there for ya to search the forum to find your answers

Do those Hifonics run at .5 ohm? He could get a dual 1 and run .5 ohm at first and then strap them at 1 ohm each.

I don't see the point, though. I'd just give it 2k-2.5k and I'm sure you'll be happy. You're fighting diminishing returns for a small gain in a daily driver.
