A lot of people say they are if you're running different batterys, i've heard some people say they arent.........Whats the truth about em?

I would run without it. The stinger one i had caused me to lose a whole volt in the back. Only useful ifyou plan on bumping with car off and not wanting to drain your front battery.

They are completely useless in car audio. Disregard anything anybody tells you otherwise.

not needed from what I have read, I would charge multi batterys together as one so that you bring the voltage up the same and you should be fine unless the car sits for long peroids of time

This. I was told they were necessary, but then I joined SMD and everyone said they were a bad idea, so I blew $20 for nothing, and it's been sitting in my closet since.

There really is no need for one with car audio. People may say things differently but if u do some research you'll see that most of the big spl competitors do not use them.

They can cause more voltage drops and add resistance more than help your batteries...
