how do u figure out the rms on ur amp

Recommended Posts

by doing the math with ur fuses for example if my amp has 2 70 amp fuses and i like add em up which would equal 140 amps does that mean my amp is doing 1400 rms .. i think thats wrong if soo just correct me by the way thats just an example i would like to find out the true rms on any amp by just taking a look at the fuses and doing some math ....thanks in advance to anyone that helps

its called ohm's law. amps x volts = watts

so your 140amps x 13v = 1820w

i use 13v to account for voltage drop.

edit - but that doesnt mean the amp will do that much power. just means it cant do more than that. if you really want to test the power an amp puts out you need to get a DMM and a clamp meter. then you can measure the output voltage and amperage and find the real power.

If I answered you in a well mannered, informative way, you asked a good question or had a good attitude. If I was an asshole, you asked a stupid question or you had a fucktard attitude... or I was in a bad mood.

I don't think you can determine an amps RMS from it's fuses... I mean.. what do I know.. nothing.. but i really don't think an amp blows it's fuse at RMS ... just saying..

What about efficiency :D

Designing, building, and shipping boxes. Yahoo IM - kingsuv00If the listening level is too loud, please inform the driver, so he can promptly pull over, and let you out.

not many cars can get me to pluggin my ears but this one.......damn. I mean the first minute is ok but that thing just really starts digging deeper and deeper in your earhole till you cant stand it no more. Seems like it does it with relative ease....16 12's on 8 amps.........gotta love it. :)

Exactly. Just subtract 10,000 RMS from whatever you think. you're making.

that means people with 200 watt sony xplods are actually hitting 9800 watts. but the amp is powered by the subs because its negative :P
